An Information Difference Research Study

Recent surveys of the Information Technology market have suggested an overall increase in expenditure in 2015. What proportion of this increase will be devoted to the area of data management (including data governance, data quality, data warehousing and master data management) in 2015? How do you compare with your peers? Indeed, what are organizations planning for the future in this key area? In this survey we investigated data management spending in depth. Respondents from some 100 companies and organizations across the world were invited to participate.


Master Data Management

Information Difference :: Vendor Positioning Report

The Information Difference has been tracking the Master Data Management (MDM) market since 2007. To inform their thorough analysis of the market, they perform in-depth functional product analyses, assessing MDM technology based on 200 relevant functional checkpoints.

In their March 2014 report on Master Data Maestro v. 3.5, The Information Difference concludes that Maestro represents a very credible offering at a relatively low cost “that should be extremely attractive to Microsoft users.”

Master Data Maestro ranking highlights:

  • Business Rules – well above average in the provision of external data exchange and data models, and hierarchy management.
  • Data Quality – best-in-class matching accuracy and data enrichment; above average in 10 other areas, including merging and survivorship, data cleansing, numerous other aspects of matching, and data type and format validation.
  • Data Provision – above average reporting capabilities.
  • Data Storage – best-in-class CRUD (create, retrieve, update and delete) functionality and master data storage scope.
  • Data Movement – best-in-class API for data retrieval/update.

The report concludes that “Profisee have done a very good job of extending MDS, in particular making it so much easier to use.”
